ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR

POSITION GOAL

To provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program to support the academic, life skills and wellness, and college/career needs of all students.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students.
• Develop and implement classroom guidance lessons.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support student success.
• Assess student needs and progress through various assessment tools.
• Develop and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• An earned master's degree from an accredited institution in School Counseling, Counselor Education, or a related field.
• Valid Florida Department of Education Certification in School Counseling.
• Ability to work with diverse groups.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Experience working with elementary school students.
• Experience in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
• Experience with evidence-based practices in school counseling.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of materials and supplies may be required.
