About the role

This position serves as a counselor within the School Leadership and Operations division of the district. The role supports students in academic and social issues, guides their educational and career paths, and collaborates with various initiatives including the Career Pathways initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Implement or assist in implementing a developmental counseling and guidance program based on school needs.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions addressing educational and personal needs.
  • Lead classroom activities to support instructional goals and student development.
  • Prepare and submit notices to parents regarding students' academic status.
  • Supervise student registration and schedule changes.
  • Compile and maintain student records and assist in the registration of new students.
  • Evaluate incoming and transferring students' transcripts and keep records.
  • Prepare and transmit transcripts and other official documents.
  • Collaborate with Graduation Coaches, Career Pathways Facilitators, and others to implement the Career Pathways initiative.
  • Assist with school-based scheduling for work-based learning students.
  • Participate in standardized testing administration and data analysis.
  • Provide career pathway and life development information to students and parents.
  • Consult and coordinate with staff, parents, and community resources.
  • Participate in Student Support Teams and contribute to the planning and operation of the school.
  • Serve as a team member in student elections.

Requirements

  • Master’s or higher degree in School Counseling.
  • An S-5 or above certificate as required by the Professional Standards Commission.
  • A valid and appropriate license, certificate, or credential as required for this position.

Qualifications

Possess and maintain a valid and appropriate license, certificate, or credential as may be required for this position. Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner. Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment. Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to job responsibilities. Implement and adhere to appropriate safety procedures, crisis emergency plans to create and sustain a secure and healthy learning environment consistent with District and school rules, policies, and procedures. Communicate effectively with students, parents or guardians, District and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning. Perform, professionally and efficiently, other duties as assigned.
