About the role
To provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program to support the academic, life skills and wellness, and college/career needs of all students.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students
- Develop and implement counseling programs that address academic, social, emotional, and career development needs
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to promote student success
- Evaluate student progress and make recommendations for additional support
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills
Requirements
- An earned master's degree from an accredited institution in School Counseling, Counselor Education, or a related field
- Valid Florida Department of Education Certification in School Counseling
- Ability to work with diverse groups
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Computer skills as required for the position
Qualifications
- Significant contact with students, families, and colleagues
- Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods and occasional walking or standing
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of school counseling principles and practices
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
