About the role

To provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program to support the academic, life skills and wellness, and college/career needs of all students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students
  • Develop and implement counseling programs that address academic, social, emotional, and career development needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to promote student success
  • Evaluate student progress and make recommendations for additional support
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills

Requirements

  • An earned master's degree from an accredited institution in School Counseling, Counselor Education, or a related field
  • Valid Florida Department of Education Certification in School Counseling
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Computer skills as required for the position

Qualifications

  • Significant contact with students, families, and colleagues
  • Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods and occasional walking or standing

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of school counseling principles and practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
