Elementary Behavior Support Personnel

About the role

This role provides classroom-based support to promote safe, consistent, and productive learning environments at Layton Elementary. It focuses on proactive strategies, prevention, and in-the-moment support to help students access instruction and meet school expectations.

Responsibilities

• Implement behavior supports and intervention plans as designed by the school team
• Support students in accessing instruction and participating in classroom routines and expectations
• Use proactive strategies to prevent escalation and support positive behavior throughout the school day
• Provide real-time support during challenging situations using trained de-escalation and safety procedures
• Aid in academic engagement as it relates to behavioral supports
• Collect and document data on student progress and behavior
• Work as part of a team with teachers, administrators, and support staff to implement and maintain consistent supports
• Maintain a safe and structured environment for students and staff

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience working with students in a school or related setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students and school teams
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in high-stress or crisis situations
• Ability to follow and implement established plans (i.e. Behavior Intervention Plans) and strategies with consistency
• Basic computer skills for data collection and reporting

Pay

$19.02 per hour (2026-27 Support Salary Table)
