Behavior Support Staff
About the role
Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH) is seeking a full-time Behavioral Support Staff to join the NC START Team in Durham. The role supports individuals with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental or behavioral health needs, providing crisis or planned crisis stabilization.
Responsibilities
- Support persons with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental or behavioral health needs.
- Provide support for habilitative activities, personal care, health care, and other activities.
- Ensure a therapeutic environment at the START Center.
- Collaborate with individual's primary provider and clinical home, community crisis services, family, and others as part of comprehensive START model services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related Human Services Field.
- Two years experience with supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Proficiency with EHR systems or technical skills.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation for work-related travel.
Qualifications
- Passionate about helping others.
- Experience with MS Office suite and data entry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Skills
- Ability to work in a supportive environment for individuals experiencing behavioral or mental health crises.
- Proficiency with EHR systems or technical skills.

Schedule
- Option 1: Full Time - Over Night - Wednesday-Friday and every other Saturday and Sunday 10:00PM-8:00AM
- Option 2: Full Time - 2nd Shift - Monday and Tuesday 11:30AM-10:00PM, Wednesday 1:30PM-10:00PM and Every other Saturday and Sunday 11:30AM-10:00PM
- Option 3: Part Time - Over Nights - Friday and Saturday 10:00PM-8:00AM
