About the role
The Electronics Engineer will support the development, assembly, testing, and production scaling of vehicle electronics and electrical systems for an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company.
Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, modify, and rework printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) supporting vehicle electronics development.
- Perform soldering, fine-pitch component rework, and assembly inspections using microscopes and specialized electronics tools.
- Build, repair, and modify automotive-grade wire harnesses using industry-standard connectors such as TE, Molex, and Deutsch.
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels, engineering test benches, rack systems, and prototype hardware.
- Support electronics bring-up, functional testing, and prototype validation activities.
- Inspect PCBAs and cable assemblies to identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and improve assembly quality.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs) to support builds and troubleshooting efforts.
- Maintain electronics lab readiness by organizing tools, equipment, components, consumables, and workspaces.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, and tracking of electrical components, prototype hardware, and engineering supplies.
- Care for the intake and shipment of prototype hardware, test fixtures, and engineering equipment.
- Create and maintain documentation, records, and tracking systems that support efficient hardware development workflows.
- Travel domestically as needed to support fleet operations and engineering activities.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with electronic product assembly, prototyping, and functional testing.
- Strong soldering, PCB assembly, and component-level rework skills.
- Experience working under a microscope for fine-pitch assembly and rework activities.
- Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment such as digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and electronic loads.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Experience using mechanical hand tools commonly associated with electronics assembly.
- Strong documentation, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Windows or macOS environments and browser-based applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable working onsite in a hands-on electronics lab environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work with minimal defects.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Experience supporting safety-critical electronics in automotive, aerospace, defense, robotics, aviation, or other harsh-environment applications.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer or KiCad.
- CAD experience using Altium Designer, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or related engineering collaboration tools.
- Experience working within Linux environments.

Commitment
This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
