Summary Description

Under direction, performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of audiovisual and other electronic equipment and systems. Work involves responsibility for performing a variety of skilled tasks in accordance with standard practices of the electronic trade.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Completion of the MCPS Electronics Test at the required score.
• Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of audiovisual and other electronic equipment and systems.
• Working knowledge of the basic and applied principles of electronic and electrical theory.
• Ability to detect by inspection defects in equipment or systems and to make the proper adjustments or repairs.
• Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials of the trade.
• Good human relations and communications skills.

Core Competencies

• Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education, Training, Experience

• High School or GED diploma required.
• Trade coursework in a recognized technical training course in television and radio servicing.
• Experience in the installation and repair of audiovisual and other electronic equipment.

Certification/License

• Possession of a valid Maryland noncommercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
