About the role
The Electronic Technician will perform advanced level installation, maintenance and repair on electronic equipment associated with Minnesota’s Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response (ARMER) communications system and the Minnesota’s Roadway Weather Information Systems (RWIS).
Responsibilities
- Perform mobile and portable radio installations and programming
- Tower lighting controller repairs
- Tower shelter environmental systems maintenance
- DC battery systems maintenance
- Network equipment maintenance
- Humidity Sensor maintenance
- Wind Speed/Direction Sensor maintenance
- Precipitation sensor maintenance
- Visibility sensor maintenance
- Pavement sensor maintenance
- Routers, switches, and camera maintenance
- Motherboards and backplane maintenance
Requirements
- Two-year minimum certification in electronics OR equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of standard practices and procedures used in the repair, installation, and maintenance of a wide variety of electronic equipment
- Knowledge of fault isolation tools, techniques, and equipment
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, network operating systems, and capabilities
- Ability to read and interpret detailed technical information
- Ability to communicate written and oral technical information
- Skills in troubleshooting techniques and handling sensitive electronic equipment and parts
- Valid (Class D) driver’s license
Qualifications
- Completion of two-year vocational/technical program in Electronics Technology (Associate in Applied Science degree or Electronic Technician diploma)
- Ability to work on a variety of manufacturer’s equipment

Pay
$24.02 - $33.86 / hourly; $50,154 - $70,700 / annually
