About This Position Work is mainly performed at DOTD HQ. but may be performed at any of the HQ satellite offices as needed. Work may be performed in or out of doors in a various weather conditions or at differing heights depending upon the nature of each assignment. Working may also involve bending, stooping. lifting and climbing. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives. A valid Louisiana Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License is required upon appointment. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR Two years of experience or training in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification plus one of the following: One year of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR One year of experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software). Experience Substitution Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience. Necessary Special Requirements Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar. Job Duties Job Duties and Other Information Electrical & Cable Systems: Follow written/verbal instructions; route, terminate, and test cables; assist contractors with upgrades; locate power sources; check continuity, voltage, and control-device inputs/outputs.Electrical Distribution & Grounding: Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair grounding systems, switchgear, power distribution centers, bus ducts, cable trays, breakers, fuses, starters, transformers, and electrical equipment up to 480V.Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose electrical/electronic faults in machinery, HVAC controls, appliances, access-control systems, door locks, motors, and related wiring; read schematics, trace circuits, identify failures, and coordinate required materials and parts.Security, Facilities & Support: Install security/video cameras and electrical components; replace motors, ballasts, and fixtures; operate large equipment with a CDL; support contractors and perform emergency/disaster duties and other assignments as needed.
