Responsibilities include understanding and applying the theory of operation to determine faulty products, following prints, schematics, and verbal/written instructions, operating environmental test chambers, developing test data, preparing test reports, rejecting assemblies that fail tests, and preparing for simple mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs electrical tests and troubleshooting on subassemblies, assemblies, and systems for conformance to specifications.
  • Understands and applies the theory of operation of the unit under test to determine faulty products due to design, workmanship, environmental, and component defects.
  • Reads, understands, and accurately follows prints, schematics, sketches, work from test procedures, and verbal or written instructions.
  • Operates environmental test chambers located in dedicated program areas as required to assure workmanship and product performance as required.

  • May perform soldering and/or mechanical assembly, as many electronic tests are performed with incomplete circuits.
  • Prepares test reports as required.
  • Rejects assemblies that fail to conform with test specifications; indicates on proper documents the phase of the test that the assembly failed and indicates what alterations are needed to eliminate the defect.
  • Performs simple mathematics, such as determining power consumption, gain efficiency, signal noise ratio, etc., to determine acceptability and locate and record discrepancies on various types of subassemblies.
  • Collects data, prepares/maintains records, using either written or electronic media, as required and/or directed by supervision.
  • Moves material as directed.
  • Determines acceptability, locates, and records discrepancies on various types of subassemblies; uses direct reading instruments, gauges, meters, measuring devices such as continuity meters, specialized mechanical or optical measuring or testing devices, and/or stereo microscopes.
  • Stops, starts, and controls equipment as necessary.
  • May be required to perform soldering and/or mechanical assembly, as many electronic tests are performed with incomplete circuits.
  • May be required to perform simple mathematics, such as to determine power consumption, gain efficiency, signal noise ratio, etc.
  • May be required to perform basic soldering and/or mechanical assembly, as many electronic tests are performed with incomplete circuits.
  • May be required to perform simple mathematics, such as to determine power consumption, gain efficiency, signal noise ratio, etc.
