About the role

The Electronic Systems Specialist maintains, repairs, and alters the data processing system connected to a group of state-owned buildings on the Capitol Complex in St. Paul. This system automates environmental controls, access control, security devices, video, intercom, fire protection, metering, and lighting control systems. This position also carries the responsibility of off-duty callback if emergency conditions occur with the automation system or related auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, installing, calibrating, configuring, maintaining, and repairing electronics equipment to maintain the operational status of the Capitol Complex integrated environmental, UL fire alarm, access control, security camera, emergency intercom, metering, and lighting systems.
  • Ensuring proper operation of all fire alarms and audio systems in the state buildings on the Capitol Complex in the event of a fire or other emergency.
  • Performing necessary routine functions to the Honeywell EBI Systems and remotes to ensure minimum downtime.

Requirements

  • Must hold and maintain an Electrician license (Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Power Limited Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, or Exempt Maintenance Electrician).
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, repairing, and programming environmental, security, and fire alarm control systems.
  • Work with pneumatic fundamentals that interface with digital controls.
  • Communicate effectively with employees and outside vendors.
  • Read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
  • Problem-solving skills sufficient to diagnose and repair problems quickly and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational/technical degree in Electronics is highly desired.
  • Electronics experience with primary responsibility for the installation, operation, programming and maintenance of commercial security, environmental and fire alarm control systems.
