ELECTRONIC SECURITY SYSTEMS MECHANIC

About the Role

You will serve as an Electronic Security Systems Mechanic in the Navy Public Works Center of NAVFAC Southwest. This position is part of the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) and may be realigned under the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC).

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on analog/digital computer-type networks with a variety of input forms.
• Conduct functional tests on each subsystem as part of a scheduled maintenance program, determine causes of malfunctions, and make necessary repairs.
• Overhaul, calibrate, install, modify, and align sensor subsystems and logic subsystems.
• Diagnose system or equipment malfunctions and perform repairs as necessary.
• Use building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to guide work.

Requirements

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must demonstrate through experience and training that you possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position. Emphasis is on the quality of experience rather than the duration.

Your qualifications will be evaluated based on your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies in the following job elements:

• Utilizing building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing of equipment and controls.
• Determining and installing wiring, conduit, transformers, and other electrical devices in the size, type, and arrangement needed for proper and safe operation of electrical alarm systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of electronic principles involved in applications such as data display, digital logic circuits, telephone systems, ultrasonic, and microminiaturized integrated circuitry.

You will work under the close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to ensure proper performance.
