About the role
We're looking for an Electromechanical Sustaining Engineer to join our Hardware Sustaining team and serve as its electrical and embedded systems expert. Your day-to-day responsibilities include leading first-pass investigations of field and production issues, performing board- and system-level debug, driving root cause analysis and corrective action, and acting as the technical bridge between mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead first-pass electrical, embedded, and firmware investigations of field and production issues across Bevi's connected hardware.
- Perform board- and system-level debug—instrumenting, measuring, and reproducing electromechanical failures such as inter-board communication faults, sensor and actuator behavior, and power or signal integrity issues.
- Drive robust root cause analysis and corrective action on electromechanical issues, taking projects from initial analysis through containment and change release.
- Translate field symptoms into clearly scoped engineering work packages that the EE and firmware development teams can act on directly.
- Serve as the sustaining team's technical bridge across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software disciplines.
- Partner with the EE and firmware teams to hand off well-defined problems and support implementation and verification of solutions.
- Represent the sustaining team in cross-functional design reviews, DFMEA, and PFMEA activities, contributing a credible technical voice in electrical and embedded systems discussions.
- Communicate and coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and outside vendors and suppliers as needed.
- Create and release ECNs and update BOMs, drawings, and supporting documentation for electromechanical changes.
- Develop and execute test methods to validate fixes and verify compliance.
- Apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis to drive quality improvements, cost reduction, and improved reliability.
- Support component end-of-life and obsolescence engineering activities for electrical components, and provide feedback to the New Product Development team to improve next-gen designs.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in product development, hardware sustaining, or systems integration of electromechanical systems.
- Hands-on electrical and embedded debugging: board-level troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters, and familiarity with common communication protocols (e.g., I²C, SPI, UART, CAN).
- Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis and corrective action on electromechanical systems.
- Comfort working across the electrical - mechanical boundary, including the ability to read board schematics as well as mechanical drawings and CAD and collaborate effectively with mechanical and electrical engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills, including the ability to scope and frame technical work clearly for hand-off across teams.
Preferred
- Experience with Arena PLM.
- Experience with IoT or connected hardware products.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Knowledge of reliability engineering tools such as MTBF and MTTF.
- Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS or a similar 3D CAD program.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance plans with BlueCross BlueShield, 95% paid by employer.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Flexible PTO plus 12 company holidays, and additional paid days for sick leave, etc.
- Generous fully paid parental leave for both birth parents and non-birth parents.
- Fully employer paid disability and life insurances.
- Wellness and fitness reimbursements.
- Monthly stipends for cell phone use and commuting costs.
- Onsite snacks, weekly catered lunch, and (of course) unlimited Bevi ... plus composting and terra-cycling, too.
- Happy hours, team-building events, bagel breakfasts, Values awards - and more.
