Electrodiagnostic Technician
Position Summary
Regularly performs one or more of the following neurological tests on adult patients (as ordered by a physician). All technologists are expected to be able to competently and independently complete: Inpatient and outpatient routine EEGs, Ambulatory EEGs, Continuous video EEG monitoring, Inpatient and outpatient EMGs. Some technologists may also be expected to competently and independently: Monitor patients on the floor between Epilepsy surgeries, Set up and assist with cortical STIM studies, Set-up and monitor patients during WADA procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Certification/graduate of accredited END program accredited by the Committee of Allied Health Education OR 5 years of working experience in the Neurodiagnostic field and become certified in END or obtain registration in one of the following within one year: EEG (R. EEG T.), Evoked Potentials (R. EP T.), Nerve Conduction (R. NCS T.).
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Strong clinical and human relations skills. Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
- Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Personal Computer, Telephone, Fax Machine, Photocopier, Printer, all versions of the EEG testing machines and collection devices, along with supporting equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: An associate degree from an accredited college is preferred.
