Overview
The Electrical Trainee is a working field position that serves as an assistant and extra set of hands for the branch Foreman and/or Electricians. You will provide assistance and technical electrical support while also working as part of a team with the Lead and Installers to complete mechanical portions of residential solar installation projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation of electrical systems that interconnect the solar array to the grid power of our customer’s residential property.
- Assist in troubleshooting system problems and help resolve electrical issues.
- Assemble the racking and solar array when assigned.
- Perform trenching, concrete work, and equipment assembly.
- Handle project clean-up, including the client site and installation vehicle.
- Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity.
- Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards.
- Develop a positive working dynamic within the installation crew and branch co-workers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of electrical installation and repair experience.
- Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to perform all installation duties of the Installer and Lead Installer.
- Professional appearance and strong customer interaction skills.
- Strong work ethic, high level of craftsmanship/workmanship, and attention to detail.
- Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Willingness and ability to participate in the Power+ programs, including cross-training in other departments or performing comparable work in areas where you are already skilled.
- Strong mechanical/construction skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- 5% travel is required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance).
- Ability to work safely in a branch/warehouse/rooftop environment.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, and ensure accuracy of work.
- Ability to interact with co-workers and participate in meetings.
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces.
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions.
Pay
Starting salary/wage for this opportunity is $30.00 to $40.01 per hour. Compensation decisions will not be based on a candidate's salary history.
