Overview

The Electrical Trainee is a field position that serves as an assistant and extra set of hands for the branch Foreman and/or Electricians. You’ll provide technical electrical support, assist with installations, and collaborate with the Lead and Installers to complete mechanical portions of residential solar projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of electrical systems that interconnect the solar array to the grid power of residential properties.
• Assist in troubleshooting system problems and resolving electrical issues.
• Assemble racking and solar arrays when assigned.
• Perform trenching, concrete work, and equipment assembly.
• Handle project clean-up, including client sites and installation vehicles.
• Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity.
• Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices.
• Develop a positive working dynamic within the installation crew and branch co-workers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of electrical installation and repair experience.
• Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.
• Ability to perform all installation duties of the Installer and Lead Installer.
• Professional appearance and strong customer interaction skills.
• Strong work ethic, high level of craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
• Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Willingness and ability to participate in the Power+ program, including cross-training in other departments or performing comparable work in areas where you’re already skilled.
• Strong mechanical/construction skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• 5% travel is required.

Physical Demands

• Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance).
• Ability to work safely in branch/warehouse, rooftop, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces.
• Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, and ensure accuracy of work.
• Ability to interact with co-workers and participate in meetings.

Pay

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity: $27.60 to $36.80 per hour. Compensation decisions will not be based on a candidate's salary history.
