Electrician I (#012082) Perry Correctional Institution, Pelzer (GREENVILLE) Level 3

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventative maintenance of electrical fire alarms, CCTV, electronic security, PA, intercom, and high voltage distribution systems, emergency generators, and equipment.
• Plans electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.
• Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and makes take-offs.
• Requisitions materials and parts needed.
• Ensures completion of installation and repairs.
• Makes emergency repairs to electrical systems and equipment.
• Performs on-the-job training of inmates.
• Requires cross-training in other areas of the maintenance field, including HVAC, plumbing, and general maintenance.
• Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Requirements

• A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems (relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis).
• Ability to supervise, direct, instruct, and work with other people.
