Electrician and Instrument Technician
Job Description
This includes evaluating, maintaining and repairing (low, medium, high voltage) breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC motors, electrical disconnect, transformers, lighting panels, HVAC UPS, batteries, charger, inverters and VFD (120Volt AC to 345KVAC).
- Evaluate, maintain, and repair electrical equipment & controls, relay protection schemes, electrical monitoring equipment, pneumatic controls, valve operators and controls, ignition systems, various operating gauges, instruments, PLC’s and alarms.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair plant electronic, pneumatic systems, analyzers, facility computers, process control equipment and instrumentation.
- Perform trouble-shooting activities on all plant electrical equipment.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret online diagrams, electrical protection scheme, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals.
- Participate in major maintenance projects, including equipment overhauls and removal and replacement of major units and parts.
- Inspect and monitor work of third-party contractors during major equipment repair or installation.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
- High school graduate or GED, trade school, related military service training programs, or technical training school programs required.
- Minimum of five years maintenance experience in power generation facilities or similar industrial facilities and field preferred.
- Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
- Must have knowledge of Safety and Environment rules as they relate to electrical maintenance.
- Must provide positive influence to the maintenance, operations, and management team.
- Working knowledge of CMMS. Familiarity with Maximo preferred.
- Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems preferred.
- Experience Working On Voltages Up To 4160v, Preferred
- Experience working on transmitters, valve actuators/positioners, control systems a plus

All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis by Human Resources and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate's email address provided during the application process.
