About the role
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a skilled Electrician 2 to serve as part of a statewide roving maintenance team supporting Ohio’s Developmental Centers. This role is ideal for an experienced electrician who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working across multiple facilities to ensure safe and reliable electrical systems that support 24/7 residential and clinical operations.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems & equipment across multiple facilities
- Support critical infrastructure including electrical distribution systems, generators, transfer switches, lighting, and controls
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure system reliability and compliance with safety standards
- Respond to urgent electrical issues and assist in restoring essential services
- Maintain accurate records, diagrams, and maintenance documentation
- Cookordination work with facility maintenance staff and contractors to minimize operational disruptions
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and proper PPE usage
Requirements
- 18 months training or 18 months verifiable experience in electrical work under supervision of experienced electrician; formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division & in reading & writing common English vocabulary.
- Or 6 months experience as Electrician 1, 52281.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
