About the role
The Electrical Technician will perform scheduled and corrective maintenance, integration, testing, field installation, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and systems. Work primarily occurs at URC in San Diego and will require travel to various locations in the US, at sea and abroad.
Responsibilities
- Provide sound and seasoned technical judgement that follows company policies and procedures in meeting SROMC obligations.
- Congduct electrical and electronic maintenance and operation of all USN submarine rescue systems and support equipment (SRDRS, ROV, SILOS, LWMS).
- Maintain rescue teams and systems in the highest state of readiness in order to meet Fleet requirements.
- Works within and supports a safety culture that is in compliance with Oceaneering’s Life Safety Rules and HSE program.

- Resolve technical, procedural, and schedule issues.
- Formulate methods and processes which will increase safety, efficiency and readiness.
- Soldering, electrical assembly, power/comm cable testing, fiber optics termination and troubleshooting.
- Some light mechanical assembly associated with submarine rescue systems and supporting equipment, including ROV electronic enclosures and diesel generators.
- Use electrical meters, high voltage meggers, fiber optic sources and power meters, and similar test equipment.
- Travel and at-sea watchstanding will be required.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A Technical Associates Degree or tech trade school preferred.
- Minimum two years formal electronics training or four years of progressively responsible, on-scene experience in electrical/electronic assembly.
- Able to interpret complex electrical schematics.
- Above average skills in soldering and electrical assembly.
- An Electrical/Electronic Assembly/Inspection and/or Soldering Certificate (IPC-WHMA-620, IPC J-STD, etc.) desired, or equivalent skill in lieu of certificate.
- Experience with cable assembly/wire harness assembly.
- Experience with fiber optic cable assembly, troubleshooting and repair.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work with minimum supervision under a variety of conditions.
- A current valid U.S. passport is required.
- Must be able to obtain security clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Desired
- Experience with PWB/PCB assembly including thru-hole and surface mount.
- Experience with Deep Submergence Systems – Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC).
- Experience troubleshooting to the component level.
- Knowledge of shipboard wiring and/or subsea systems (ROVs/AUVs).

The hourly pay range for this position is $27.36 - $38.61
