Electrical Technician
About the role
We believe people should love what they do – in a Test Technician role, you will be responsible for:
- Provide electrical support for the design, integration, and maintenance of electrical systems on a variety of technologies, ranging from land robotics to uncrewed surface vessels for military programs in a fast-paced environment.
- These systems are experimental and cutting-edge technological advancements that are intended to protect the warfighter in various theaters.
- This individual will have an opportunity to travel, execute experimental military and civil hardware testing, and grow in their role.
- The position involves supporting lab operations of component integration, modifications, assembly and test, of ground vehicles, air vehicles, and surface vessels.
- Individuals must be willing to support remote test sites to include serving as a boat operator, safety lookout, as well as maintenance crew member during field testing.
- Individuals must be able to work from assembly documentation (i.e. work instructions, drawings etc.), parts lists, and diagrams to assemble, wire and install a wide variety of components.
- May assemble by hand or operate semiautomatic assembly equipment.
- Operates electronic and mechanical test equipment.
Responsibilities
Maintain and operate unmanned systems and support equipment
Troubleshoot electronic and general electrical systems
Aid engineers and designers with prototype development and testing
Support offsite testing and demonstrations
Actively perform lab maintenance, safety audits, and material tracking
Use small hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers.
Identify and document work order instruction or drawing errors
Maintain logbooks and records.
Build and Test cable assemblies
Operate USV’s and manned vessels
Operate overhead cranes and forklift
Work extended/flexible hours to meet program goals
Maintain equipment
General Housekeeping
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Ability to interpret drawings and schematics
- Ability to confidently use a Fluke DVM
- Boater Safety Course a plus
- Boating experience preferred
- Basic computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, database & technical drawing packages
- Able to organize and set up tests with minimal guidance
- Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance
- Must be a team player and able to work with minimum supervision
- General electrical aptitude and the ability to be certified in IPC standards
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Able to multitask and prioritize tasking
- Able to work in extreme weather conditions
- Able to work on naval vessel
- Able to work in tight quarters and confined spaces
- Working knowledge of military specifications is a plus
