The Duluth location is undergoing rapid expansion.

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow all safety regulations and plant procedures, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Participate in and support mill’s safety training and safety engagement activities.
• Use appropriate tools and software to troubleshoot and diagnose the root cause of electrical issues in the facility.
• Troubleshoot and test the functionality of process instrumentation such as flow meters, level transmitters, and level switches.
• Work with resources to resolve issues as quickly and effectively as possible.
• Interpret electrical schematics and user manuals.
• Perform PLC/DCS programming, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Repair electrical and electronic systems, including any electromechanical production equipment.
• Collect PLC input and output data to monitor equipment efficiency and assist in planning future conversion operations.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems.
• Complete necessary documentation to ensure control documentations are correct, follow all necessary control procedures, and update drawings to reflect process improvements and field changes.
• Assist and consult with management/engineering on projects as needed.
• Adhere to safe work practices, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is maintained.
• Manage and work with contractors and vendors to monitor and improve efficiency and output.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• 2-year certification from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics is preferred.
• At least one year of strong industrial electrical background in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electronics background is preferred with experience also in 480 volt, 2300 volt, 35k volts, 3-Phase Controls; AB/Rockwell DC Drive; AB/Rockwell PLC’s, Control Logic; Reading Electrical Drawings and Ladder Logic.
• Experience with variable frequency drives and smart field instruments (e.g., pressure, flow, temperature, level and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators and PID controllers) is necessary.
• Understanding of the working components of PLC/DCS systems.

Work Environment

Employees will use computers and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE will include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests, hairnets or hats, and any other necessary protection.

Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range considerably from season to season. The employee will be exposed to considerable paper dust and noise levels that will require hearing protection.
