About the role
We are seeking an Electrical Qualification Agent to join our team specializing in quality, inspection, and safety for our location in Detroit, MI, or other major metropolitan areas within the state. This role requires 90% or more travel and plays a critical part in ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence across electrical installations and services.
Responsibilities
- Drive Electrical Safety and Compliance: Ensure all electrical work performed by Cummins employees or subcontractors complies with NEC and state regulations. Conduct site visits, perform safety audits, and confirm adherence to compliance standards.
- Manage Permits and Documentation: Obtain and manage electrical permits for all jobsite activities across multiple states and municipalities. Review design criteria, specifications, and documentation to ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA70e codes.
- Support Technician Development: Monitor and maintain technician trainee cards, hours, and continuing education requirements to ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with PEM/PM/Data Center and Start & Test teams to align schedules with permitting requirements. Participate in electrical safety meetings and foster a culture of safety and teamwork.
- Maintain Regulatory Relationships: Build and sustain working relationships with state, city, and local agencies to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A current State electrical license with required hours and continuing education credits.
- A willingness to obtain reciprocity electrical licenses for any applicable reciprocal states.
- Experience in inspecting new electrical installations, reviewing plans, issuing permits, educating stakeholders, enforcing codes and standards, and maintaining compliance records.
- Ability to perform site visits, perform JSO's, and confirm electrical safety compliance.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively while traveling extensively.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- College, university, or equivalent degree required.
- Intermediate level of relevant work experience, including team leadership experience, required.
- Knowledge of electrical installation rules and laws of the state.
- Ability to pull and manage electrical permits for jobsite activities across multiple states and municipalities.
- Understanding of and ability to enforce NEC and state electrical laws/regulations.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 annually.
