About the role

This role requires 90% or more travel and plays a critical part in ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence across electrical installations and services. The Electrical Qualification Agent will inspect new electrical installations, review plans, issue and pull permits, educate stakeholders, enforce codes and standards, and maintain compliance records.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Electrical Safety and Compliance: Ensure all electrical work performed by Cummins employees or subcontractors complies with NEC and state regulations. Conduct site visits, perform safety audits, and confirm adherence to compliance standards.
  • Manage Permits and Documentation: Obtain and manage electrical permits for all jobsite activities across multiple states and municipalities. Review design criteria, specifications, and documentation to ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA70e codes.
  • Support Technician Development: Monitor and maintain technician trainee cards, hours, and continuing education requirements to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with PEM/PM/Data Center and Start & Test teams to align schedules with permitting requirements. Participate in electrical safety meetings and foster a culture of safety and teamwork.
  • Maintain Regulatory Relationships: Build and sustain working relationships with state, city, and local agencies to ensure smooth operations and compliance.

Requirements

Hold a current State electrical license with required hours and continuing education credits. Hold or be willing to apply for a reciprocity electrical license for any applicable reciprocal states. Area of responsibility will include primary home state as well as reciprocal states.

Qualifications

College, university, or equivalent degree required. Intermediate level of relevant work experience, including team leadership experience, is required. Must hold or be willing to apply for a reciprocity electrical license for any applicable reciprocal states. Area of responsibility will include primary home state as well as reciprocal states.

Skills

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively while traveling extensively are required. Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, and regulations is essential.
