Electrical Manufacturing Supervisor

About the role

The Electrical Manufacturing Supervisor oversees the daily operations of electrical subcontractors in a production-style warehouse site, reporting on progress and resolving or escalating issues. This role involves managing the production of the work cell, ensuring adherence to detailed engineering drawings, and coordinating with Production Management to track project milestones.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises the safe installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, associated materials, and equipment within the project.
• Oversees the daily oversight of workforce headcount by activity, daily progress tracking and reporting.
• Provides information requested by Engineering, R&D, or Production regarding scope and design.
• Engages with third-party vendors to ensure adherence to electrical installation requirements.
• Covers coordination with Production Management to ensure that all project milestones are tracked and revisions are communicated in a timely manner to meet scope, budget, and project schedules.
• Oversees the routing, sizing, and installation of conduit, wireways, boxes, cabling, and devices in an acceptable manner to meet Vanderlande and customer requirements.
• Ensures that all aspects of the electrical installation are installed per detailed engineering drawings and distributes any redline updates to the Production Manager and Manufacturing Engineering team.
• Validates and maintains all required turnover documentation from the electrical subcontractor(s).

Requirements

• Ability to accommodate minimal travel on short notice.
• Willingness to work 40 hours a week, and overtime when necessary.
• Knowledge of conduit and containment routing and the ability to validate its installation.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts.
• Familiarity with AC/DC electrical theory.
• Experience using common electrical hand tools and test equipment (multi-meter, wire strippers, crimpers, torque screwdrivers).
• Preferred UL MTR or understanding of UL 508A.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex control and motor wiring circuit problems.
• Three to five years of experience assembling or wiring industrial electrical control panels.
• Proactive safety management skills.
• Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office suite and specialty programs.
• Adaptability to different or evolving situations/environments.
• Strong customer service skills; customer-facing position.
• Excellent time management skills; dual responsibilities of site and office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Working experience with material handling equipment.
• Experience with AGVS, AS/RS, or conveyors.
• Technical skills demonstrating proper wire stripping, crimping, ferrule installation, and terminal termination techniques.
• Understanding wire sizing (AWG) and basic current-carrying capacity.
• Ability to identify common electrical symbols and schematics.
• Understanding the difference between line voltage and control voltage (e.g., 480 VAC vs. 24 VDC).
• Experience troubleshooting simple wiring issues, printing, and using a multi-meter.
• Understanding the importance of proper torque on electrical connections.
• Maintaining a clean, and organized operation while properly routing the wiring within the control panels.
• Understanding the consequences of powered-on testing with high voltage.
• Understanding LOTO, NFPA 70E, and electrical PPE.
