Responsibilities

• Ensure all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the facility operate at peak efficiency through planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response to building issues.
• Serve as the singular focal point for all facility operations and support, maintaining better than 99.999% uptime for mission-critical servers.
• Assist in the administration and regulation of junior technicians' duties and provide oversight of contractors’ roles for electrical tasks.
• Analyze systems requirements, conduct research on equipment and procedures, and recommend modifications to new and existing systems.
• Install new units or replacement parts according to specifications and established safety guidelines, using MOPs, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices.
• Utilize safe working practices, including lockout/tagout, MSDS, and good housekeeping methods.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify malfunctioning electronic units such as printed circuit boards, sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits.
• Perform maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems and industrial electrical equipment, including power distribution components, wiring, electronic components, and lighting systems.
• Use appropriate test equipment, including infrared scanning and vibration analyzing meters, to perform system and equipment diagnostics.
• Log activities in CMMS and perform daily walk-throughs of the facility to document parameters such as power availability, temperature, humidity, and alarm status.
• Monitor and adjust site BAS following site MOPs and SOPs.
• Manage mechanical and electrical systems in emergency situations, including HVAC components, power distribution equipment, generator systems, load transfer and control systems, UPS systems, DC power systems, and fire/life safety.
• Identify required materials and parts for maintenance and repair; prepare and present cost estimates for procurement.
• Maintain relationships with major vendor accounts.
• Schedule, coordinate, and oversee critical environment vendors during maintenance, emergency, and break/fix events to ensure personnel safety and maintain power to critical loads.
• Set up and operate electrical data capturing devices (e.g., Dranetz, Fluke PQA).
• Create and update MOPs and SOPs; perform periodic technical and quality reviews to ensure up-to-date techniques and safety guidelines.
• Collect and generate internal and vendor field service reports describing all activities performed at the facility; review reports before submission to the end user.
• Develop reliability reports to identify areas for increased efficiency, resiliency, or to mitigate unplanned downtime.
• Conduct training with junior technicians and other staff on electrical equipment, systems, maintenance, repairs, and operation.

Requirements

• High school diploma with a minimum of 6+ years of experience in the trade.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, safety requirements, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOPs.
• Organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling planned and unplanned activities, and establish and meet deadlines for work/projects.
• Interpret building codes and local and federal regulations as they relate to installations and apply them as required by the site.
• Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.
• Operate and inspect emergency power generation and reliability equipment to ensure proper functioning and maintenance according to MOPs, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices.
• Utilize hand tools and test equipment to perform maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
• Analyze, plan, and perform preventive maintenance of electrical systems throughout the facility.
• Troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
• Understand power density and parity with HVAC system capacities to ensure availability and capacity targets are achieved and maintained.
• Possess an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy, as the position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required for access to classified information and ability to obtain and maintain Top-Secret / SCI Clearance.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred.
• Electrical OEM factory-specific training or experience preferred.

Abilities

• Lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, following proper lifting techniques and safety protocols.
• Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
• Work at various heights up to 60 feet, including climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
• Perform tasks requiring walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
• Possess good vision (may be corrected), color vision, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
• Use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
• Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
• Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
• Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions, including finding relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
• See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
