About the role

The Industrial Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in an industrial setting. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of electrical components, machinery, and systems to support IT and production processes with premier customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical & Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems, including motors, control panels, and wiring, to ensure they are functioning correctly. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce the risk of electrical failures and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose electrical issues and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Installation: Install new electrical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all electrical safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance in conformance with auditing standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance and production teams to identify and resolve electrical issues and improve overall efficiency.
  • Flexibility: Work within a planned schedule up to and including 12-hour rotating schedule that includes weekends as scheduled, and/or needed for production.
  • Toyota Production System: Conduct all work in accordance to lean manufacturing principles and processes alone or in a group setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an industrial electrical technician or in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including AC/DC motors, control systems, and Programmable Logistic Controls (PLCs).
  • Ability to read ladder logic. Knowledge of Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron or other controls equipment.
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety practices and electrical codes.
  • Ability to bend and run conduit.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory up to 480V 3-Phase.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot PLC logic.
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot Variable-Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash Standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer program skills, such as Microsoft Office Suite, are regularly used to communicate and gather information.
  • Fluent in English. Japanese as a second language is helpful.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Desire to proactively and collaboratively work toward solutions with cross-functional team input.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The Team Member is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, lift, or twist.
  • The Team Member is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and be comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
  • The Team Member must have a willingness to work in varying environmental conditions (ex. heat, cold, noise, etc.) and be able to climb ladders and work across multiple levels.
  • The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
