About the role

The Industrial Electrician Journeyperson works under minimal supervision to perform layout, installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of complex electrical equipment and circuits. This role involves troubleshooting and providing technical expertise on control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
  • Maintain and repair electrical equipment
  • Analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in equipment and related components, diagnosing and correcting problems quickly to avoid production delays
  • Perform electrical preventative and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment
  • Promote teamwork and collaborate with other departments
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills

Requirements

  • At least six (6) years of related experience as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade
  • Must satisfactorily complete General Motors hiring process requirements, including comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work flexible shift hours (day, afternoon, or night) as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays with little notice
  • No immigration-related sponsorship provided (e.g., H-1B, TN, STEM OPT, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
  • Ability to work and stand for extended periods
  • Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
  • Navigate a busy environment
  • Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach
  • May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs., depending on department
  • Occasional sitting during certain tasks
  • Drive mobile equipment when needed

Pay

This position may be filled at a Journeyperson In Training rate of $37.78–$44.08 per hour or a Journeyperson rate of $44.98 per hour. Certificates, credentials, and interview scoring will determine status and pay.

Relocation and travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant. This role is onsite and not eligible for relocation benefits.
