Responsibilities

  • Develop electric vehicle schematics and implement in Creo Schematic and Capital Harness.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement strategy for connector management to ensure maximum re-use and commonality across product lines.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement component management strategy (fusing, relays, positioning devices ……).
  • Implement vehicle and product line architecture to ensure harness circuit optimization.
  • Establish a robust process for cost analysis and work with sourcing to achieve best cost for all harnesses.
  • Design and implement design review process to reference existing warranty or field enhancement data to inform new product design.
  • Lead all Manufacturing reviews.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of standard tools and processes that will increase the efficiency and accuracy of electrical harness documentation.
  • Tailor your communication and leadership style for maximum effectiveness and influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Drive culture of traceable test acceptance criteria using reliability and confidence in designs.
  • Prepare schedules and achieve scheduled milestones for assigned projects.
  • Identify and evaluate project/subsystem risks and develop/executing subsequent mitigation plans.
  • Evaluate impact of solutions on other functions in the organization and/or the customer and make decisions accordingly.
  • Effectively self-manage projects.
  • Continuously raise your level of leadership, authority, and influence.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree preferred, 5 years experience desired.
  • Technical expertise to identify high quality harness partners, supplier assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive to root cause for quality and reliability issues.
  • Interpret technical agency standards.
  • Lead projects in accordance with engineering excellence.

Skills

  • 3D-CAD Creo Parametric, Creo Cabling, Creo schematics Capital Schematic and Harness.
  • Manufacturing and Assembly Support.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance (MDI, Observation, …).
  • Establish process for early engineering builds to ensure manufacturing involvement.
  • Warranty Review.
  • Monitor Warranty data and develop analytics to generate reports required to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor supplier performance data to identify potential continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Supplier visits as needed.
  • VAVESystem modularity.
  • Part number reduction.
  • Circuit reduction.
  • General complexity management.
  • Costing reviews.
  • Mentor other electrical designers on proper harness design and drawing best practices.
  • Strong ability to handle both complex and ambiguous situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously – mixing long term projects with the urgency of immediate demands.
  • Self-motivated, a strong collaborator, able to think creatively and work with others to find solutions, drive execution, and focus on results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft products including, Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Must be tenacious with quality and customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate product safety and testing standards.
  • Basic understanding of the Engineering financial impact and a basic understanding of the needs and impact of other functions on the business.
