Wire Harness Designer

RedBalloon · Moscow, ID · 3 wk ago
On-siteFull-time

Sygnal Technologies is a robotics engineering company specializing in drive-by-wire vehicle conversions and autonomous system integration. We work with heavy equipment and specialty platforms for clients in defense, commercial, and industrial markets such as steel mills. We're a small, fast-moving team doing genuinely cutting-edge work, and we're growing.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Wire Harness Designer to join our team. You will design and document wire harnesses for automotive autonomy and drive-by-wire vehicle conversion applications. This is a hands-on role where your work directly impacts real systems on real vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Design and draft wire harness schematics and layouts using Cadonix Arcadia
  • Create formboard layouts for manufacturing
  • Build and maintain connector and component libraries
  • Generate BOMs and manufacturing documentation packages
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure designs meet system requirements
  • Review camera, lidar, power, vehicle, and compute manuals to identify pinouts, connector types, and electrical loads
  • Iterate on designs as systems evolve and incorporate lessons learned
  • Support the manufacturing team during harness build and validation

Deliverables

  • Block/System Diagram – High-level architectural drawing showing how everything connects.
  • Load Table – Wire sizing requirements based on the loads of connected devices and electrical systems.
  • Logical Diagram – How everything connects electrically at the signal level.
  • Wire Harness Schematic – How everything connects at the physical level (butt splices, pinouts, connectors); captures all physical items but not their physical layout.
  • Form Board – 1:1 physical-scale layout of what will be manufactured, including lengths, branching, and sleeving.
  • Electrical BOM – Bill of materials for the harness build: connectors, terminals, wire, sleeving, and hardware.
  • Safety Documentation – Wiring-related sections of the Operations and Maintenance Manual (OMM).

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and documenting wire harnesses for automotive or heavy-equipment applications
  • Proficiency with Cadonix Arcadia or similar electrical CAD tools
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment
