Electrical Hardware Design Engineer

About the role

Seeking a hands-on Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to lead failure analysis, lab diagnostics, and component obsolescence redesigns. This role leverages simulation tools and structured problem-solving (8D) to resolve complex hardware issues on production lines and drive design updates, while presenting technical solutions to key customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting (50%)
  • Conduct in-depth lab-based diagnostics on returned hardware
  • Support manufacturing issues on the production line
  • Identify root causes using analog and digital simulation tools
  • Develop and implement design changes to address identified issues
  • Utilize industry standard methodologies for analysis and reporting such as 8D
• Obsolescence Redesign and Resolution (50%)
  • Monitor and manage component lifecycle risks
  • Propose and validate design updates to mitigate obsolescence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate and integrate solutions
• Customer & Supplier Communication
  • Lead technical review meetings using PowerPoint presentations
  • Clearly communicate failure insights and resolution plans

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hardware failure analysis and lab troubleshooting
• Proficiency in analog and digital simulation software (e.g., SPICE, LTspice, Multisim, MATLAB/Simulink)
• Strong background in obsolescence management and component lifecycle planning
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to lead meetings and convey technical findings to diverse audiences
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
