Electrical Engineer -Mid

Must be eligible for a Secret clearance to be considered for this position.

About the role

Provide technical advice to government project managers and engineers in support of rapid prototyping activities. Process, exploit, analyze, and report results from tests, demonstrations, and evaluations to aid in determining sensor/system overall effectiveness. Work with existing software (both COTS and GOTS) tied to sensor packages and payloads to address complex integration activities and resolve software and hardware interoperability and compatibility challenges.

Support and participate in field tests and operational demonstration activities. Includes working from marine vessels at sea, operating marine equipment such as winches and davits, and providing deck hand and swimmer services for deploying and retrieving equipment in the water.

Responsibilities

• Design and apply digital filters to incoming and outgoing signals, implementing filters in hardware and software.
• Make rapid judgments regarding the evaluation, design, and creation of sensors and communication systems.
• Work in multiple programming languages including C, C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, and C#.
• Develop client/server programming solutions and graphical user interfaces.
• Perform embedded programming in Linux and Arduino/C.
• Create customized code to perform data harvesting, processing, exploitation, and formatting from multiple sites, sensors, and/or data types.
• Work in a high-tempo environment to create efficient, well-documented coding solutions for unique issues.
• Participate in trade studies to solve technical problems and identify preferred solutions.
• Participate in technical reviews to assess project progress from design through development and delivery.
• Serve as a team member on division-wide, multidisciplinary efforts involving critical IT issues.
• Communicate clearly with clients to explain progress and results throughout the project lifecycle.
• Comply with CCAFS industrial hygiene requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned to accomplish the mission.

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant problem-solving experience in electronics and circuits theory.
• Ability to read schematics, board layouts, and datasheets.
• Proficiency with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
• Working knowledge of industry standards in electronic design and fabrication.
• Strong understanding of digital signal processing, with a focus on radio frequency and software-defined radios.
• Experience in reverse engineering hardware and software solutions (desired).
• Experience in system exploitation (desired).
• Ability to work independently or as part of a group.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, including writing reports.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.

Desired: Master of Science (MS) degree or BA + 4-9 years of relevant experience.
