Electrical Engineer III
About the role
Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support laboratory and facility design projects within our Life Sciences business unit in Greenwood Village, CO. This role supports all phases of electrical engineering design, from concept through construction, for complex laboratory and facility projects.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for laboratory and facility projects (power distribution, lighting, emergency/UPS, fire alarm, telecommunications, and security systems)
- Prepare construction documents, calculations, reports, and specifications
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget
- Support construction administration efforts, including submittal review, RFIs, and coordination with contractors
- Participate in client meetings and occasional site visits
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum 8 years of electrical design experience, preferably in A/E consulting
- PE (Professional Engineer) license required, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
- Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Familiarity with applicable codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE)
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required for client projects
Skills
- Experience with laboratory or federal clients (e.g., USDA, ARS, CDC)
- RCDD certification
- Experience with electrical analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, AGi32, or similar
