About the role
The Electrical Engineer II role within Collins Aerospace's Avionics Network Hardware team focuses on developing and sustaining high-bandwidth, mission-critical networking solutions for avionics aircraft control and airline information services. Key responsibilities include designing circuit boards, supporting product recertification, identifying cost savings, troubleshooting equipment, and managing obsolescence.
Responsibilities
- Designing circuit / board layout to support product lifecycle
- Working through product recertification (TSO or PMA) driven by minor/major changes
- Extracting cost savings solutions to the overall standard cost of the product
- Sustaining production to achieve on-time delivery goals
- Resolving product issues and technical inquiries from OEM customers
- Supporting production to achieve on-time delivery goals
- Troubleshooting returned equipment from the field or OEM assembly line
- Evaluating product part change notifications (obsolete parts, end of life parts, etc)
- Evaluate designs for Design to Cost (DTC+), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT)
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Previous or current experience in an Electrical Engineering role.
- Experience with digital electronics design principles
- Schematic capture experience for creation of digital circuits
- Printed circuit board (PCB) design layout experience
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation
- Experience with Ethernet, I2C, USB, LVDS, and SERDES bus technologies
- Qualification testing experience in DO-160
- Design tools experience for signal integrity and timing analysis
- Capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment
