About the Role

In this hybrid role, you'll lead the design and execution of electrical systems for commercial and institutional facilities, collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, and contractors from concept through construction. You'll work on projects involving lighting, power distribution, fire alarm systems, communications, and IT infrastructure while ensuring designs meet current codes, sustainability standards, and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of electrical systems for commercial and institutional facilities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, and contractors from concept through construction
  • Design lighting, power distribution, fire alarm systems, communications, and IT infrastructure
  • Ensure designs meet current codes, sustainability standards, and quality expectations
  • Manage projects through design, construction documentation, and field support
  • Travel locally and regionally as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Michigan Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing PE licensure
  • 10+ years of experience designing commercial building electrical systems
  • Experience with:
    • Lighting design
    • Power distribution
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Communications and IT infrastructure
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes and LEED principles
  • Ability to manage projects through design, construction documentation, and field support
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities or industrial process power distribution
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience
  • Familiarity with power system analysis or lighting design software
  • Project management and client relationship experience
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Pay

$95,000 - $125,000+ annually (Higher compensation may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.)
