Electrical Engineer

About the role

Design Powell standard products based on customer specifications. Create standard job designs with guidance, interpret customer specifications, order materials, and produce drawings. Transmit drawings to the shop and customer. Interface with sales, customers (with supervisor oversight), and shop personnel. Tasks are reviewed by senior engineers. Direct designers in completing wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret customer job specifications
• Order materials and create drawings
• Transmit drawings to shop and customer
• Interface with sales, customers (with supervisor), and shop personnel
• Check wiring diagrams completed by others
• Analyze and answer technical questions from designers
• Interact regularly with shop personnel
• Apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve simple application problems independently with minimum supervision
• Order material electronically using Oracle
• Apply NEC, ANSI, and other industry standards as directed
• Design products economically while maintaining quality
• Attend in-house and outside training sessions
• Participate in local professional associations
• Learn and adhere to policies, procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, safety rules, and vendor products
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related area
• 0-3 years of experience in an Engineering role
• Advanced drafting/CAD skills
• Proficiency with electrical design and circuitry
• Ability to read, interpret, and modify electrical symbols and drawings
• Basic understanding of power systems and relay applications
• Ability to apply industry standards to job and product
• Innovative approach to improving existing products
• Basic computer skills (Oracle, Word, Excel)
