About the role

Provide electrical engineering support for new and existing products. The Electrical Engineer handles general electrical engineering tasks for the Engineering team, ensuring products meet global requirements with a focus on electrical safety and EMC compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Management and Sales to analyze, plan, and assess project feasibility.
  • Perform product requirements analysis and write functional and performance requirement specifications.
  • Plan and schedule projects, conduct periodic product meetings (design reviews).
  • Design detailed electronics and electrical systems, including PC board assemblies, wiring, and cable assemblies.
  • Manage prototype fabrication and testing; procure prototyped parts, build, and test prototypes.
  • Write embedded software and manage outside software suppliers.
  • Conduct software and electronics testing and debugging.
  • Manage agency (UL/CSA/CE et al.) compliance: perform pre-compliance testing, coordinate lab testing, maintain records, and support follow-on services.
  • Support purchasing, vendors, and outsourcing.
  • Provide occasional field service support and technical training for products, including installation, operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Assist in writing product documentation, such as operating instructions and service manuals.
  • Investigate equipment failures and electrical issues in the field, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Help resolve production line issues.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • 4-7 years of experience in a product development or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of electronics design and schematic capture.
  • Proficiency in embedded software; assembly and C programming.
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming or willingness to learn.
  • Experience with global Safety and EMC compliance (UL/CSA/CE).
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation practices.
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in PC applications, including MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
