Electrical Engineer
About the role
As a Staff Electrical Engineer, you will work under general supervision on concurrent electrical projects, manage schedules and resources efficiently, collaborate on distribution projects, predict electricity consumption, secure power supply, interpret power system models, improve power quality, plan electrical substations, produce detailed electrical drawings, and address field failures.
The role involves planning the prospective development of electrical substations, encompassing design, construction, and management to ensure effective and efficient implementation within specified parameters and industry standards. You will also produce comprehensive electrical drawings, assess electrical system field failures, identify root causes, communicate findings to operations, and deliver routine engineering support for existing infrastructure and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a diverse team, including engineers, field operations, and EHS staff, to conceptualize and execute numerous distribution projects, ensuring safe and efficient design and operation of company-owned power infrastructure with comprehensive design packages for both overhead and underground projects.
- Predict electricity consumption for precise geographical regions and comprehensive field planning to ensure accurate forecasts for optimal resource allocation and energy management strategies.
- Engage with various utility companies to secure sufficient power supply for upcoming loads and ensure the fulfillment of future energy requirements.
- Interpret electrical power system models for forecasting electrical requirements and identify and resolve potential issues through troubleshooting.
- Use equipment, including capacitor banks, regulators, and reclosers, to improve power factor, increase system efficiency, and enhance power quality within utility infrastructure.
- Assist in planning the prospective development of electrical substations, encompassing design, construction, and management to ensure effective and efficient implementation within specified parameters and industry standards.
- Produce comprehensive electrical drawings for review by senior electrical engineers to facilitate effective understanding and implementation of electrical systems.
- Assess electrical system field failures, program SEL relays and reclosers using acSELerator software, identify root causes, communicate findings to operations, and deliver routine engineering support for existing infrastructure and facilities.
- Work on concurrent electrical projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, ensuring efficient management of multiple initiatives within specified timelines and financial parameters.
