About the role

The Electrical Engineer is part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of mechanical, electrical, and PLC engineers, as well as project managers, designers, sales, application engineers, and new product development for our Engineered to Order and Configure to Order businesses. This role reports to the Engineering Team Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Work through technical control details, design control circuits, size conductors, overcurrent protection, and components.
  • Draw schematics and panel layouts in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
  • Create work standards and collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors on electrical design of equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical support for Vilter’s PLC controls platform.
  • Manage customer electrical equipment projects.
  • Support team members on electrical system product improvements and standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, troubleshoot issues, and provide product training directly to customers.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics as well as piping and instrumentation drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of electrical controls and design experience.
  • Self-starter who can work autonomously and deliver projects on time with accuracy.
  • Firm understanding of electrical controls, logic, power and motor control circuits, motors, motor starters, and VFDs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and piping/instrumentation drawings.
  • Firm understanding of NFPA 70 National Electric Code, NFPA 79, and UL 508A, with up-to-date knowledge of industry standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN engineering tools.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical field experience in troubleshooting or installation.
  • 3–8 years of electrical controls and design experience.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
