KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs electrical control systems for custom automation equipment, including assembly, inspection, and testing systems.
- Develops detailed schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD.
- Integrates electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems into cohesive control solutions.
Project Execution & Collaboration
- Works cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
- Supports program timelines by delivering designs that align with project scope, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Collaborates with Program Managers to provide status updates and resolve engineering challenges.
- Participates in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manufacturing & Commissioning Support
- Partners with Manufacturing Engineering to develop assembly instructions, wiring standards, and quality procedures.
- Provides technical support during machine build, debug, and startup phases.
- Troubleshoots electrical issues and implements design modifications as needed.
- Affords assistance with system validation, testing, and customer acceptance activities.
Continuous Improvement
- Maintains current knowledge of industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation and controls.
- Contributes to standardization efforts, design libraries, and engineering documentation.
- Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability in design processes.
Qualifications
- 1-5 years of experience in electrical design within an industrial automation or manufacturing environment.
- Experience designing systems for custom machinery, assembly lines, or test equipment.
- Proficiency with EPLAN (preferred), AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLC I/O and panel design, motor controls, safety circuits, and power distribution, pneumatic and hydraulic control integration, ability to perform electrical load calculations and system sizing.
