About the role

Garver’s growing Electrical Resiliency and Illumination (ERI) team is seeking an Electrical Engineer in our Frisco, Texas office. The Electrical Engineer will work on a wide array of facility, building, and airport-related design, construction, project administration, and client management services for a variety of clients. Responsibilities include electrical design and construction support for infrastructure improvements such as electrical power, lighting, controls, communications, and other special systems. The role involves cross-training between facility and aviation-related design and construction tasks.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently on multiple projects with varying schedules and deadlines, and may perform onsite construction observation, construction administration, and submittal reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed design and specification documents for facilities, including one-line diagrams, power plans, lighting plans, and required design calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Conduct power system analyses using specialized software, interpret results to identify system hazards and operational obligations, and develop technical reports to present findings and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with other support disciplines, regional Garver offices, and regulating agencies; perform construction cost estimating and quality assurance/control.
  • Assist the Electrical Team Leader in coordinating schedules, managing multiple assignments, monitoring project budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products adhering to Garver standards.
  • Regional travel (10-20% of time) for field work, site assessments, and construction support; occasional overnight stays may be required. Opportunities for full-time or extensive part-time observation early in your career to accelerate hands-on learning.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in power system design.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present designs and technical information to coworkers and clients.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or Civil 3D.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively.

Preferred Skills

  • Passed FE exam.
  • Electrical field investigation experience and/or electricians’ license.
  • Technical skills to work safely and competently with electrical testing equipment.
  • Previous experience with power modeling packages such as SKM, ETAP, and EasyPower.
  • Passion for Electrical, Aviation, and other special system projects.
