Responsibilities
- Create designs specific to low voltage and medium voltage switchgear assemblies/systems per industry standards.
- Work under the supervision of electrical engineers to develop electrical schematics, panel layout, and wiring diagrams that meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and project requirements.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), wire lists, and terminal block drawings.
- Follow and develop standard design processes and documentation to improve quality and efficiency in engineering design.
- Support engineering change orders (ECOs) and revise existing designs to improve manufacturability, cost, or performance.
- Support project management, manufacturing, and field service groups on design-related issues for smooth project flow.
- Maintain standard parts databases and electrical and layout symbols library.
- Create record/as-built drawings based on production-testing markups.
- Maintain proper version control and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical drafting or design, preferably in switchgear or related industry.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
- Hands-on experience in panel building and wiring.
- Experience in the design of LV electrical switchgear—UL891, UL1558.
- Experience in the design of MV metal clad/metal enclosed Switchgear IEEE C37.20.2/3.
- Familiarity with Schneider Electric Power Pact, MTZ, MV breakers is a plus.
