About the role

Sentry Equipment is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and development of electrical systems for their products. This role offers an opportunity for early-career engineers to gain hands-on design skills while collaborating with various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new and existing products for design feasibility, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Create and refine electrical system designs and drawings using SolidWorks Electrical
  • Prepare drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), IOM manuals, and technical documentation
  • Apply applicable electrical codes and standards (NEMA, ATEX, ANSI, API, CSA, CE, CRN, as required)
  • Support testing and debugging of products in the shop
  • Manage multiple projects while meeting schedules and design requirements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and other departments to resolve issues and implement Engineering Changes
  • Take ownership of assigned work while learning Sentry’s products and processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Some exposure to electrical design in an industrial environment preferred
  • Experience or coursework involving:
    • Wiring techniques and electrical schematics
    • Analog and digital circuit design
    • Electrical codes (NEC, UL 508A, CE)
    • Basic PLC (ladder logic) or microprocessor programming

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret EWDs, P&IDs, and technical drawings
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication, organization, and technical writing skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong ownership mentality
