About the role

The Electrical Design Team Lead at Re:Build Optimation is responsible for leading a team of electrical and instrumentation designers, ensuring accurate and compliant documentation from concept to commissioning. Reporting to the Director of Automation and Controls, this role involves managing team operations, driving talent development, and collaborating with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the electrical design team, allocating workloads and optimizing resources
  • Drive talent management: perform evaluations, mentor, recruit, hire, and onboard new team members
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, growth-oriented culture within the team
  • Provide technical guidance and conduct design reviews
  • Design electrical and instrumentation systems using AutoCAD Electrical (P&IDs, one-lines, panel layouts, loop drawings, schematics)
  • Perform short circuit and voltage drop calculations; determine conduit, conductor, and wire sizing
  • Apply intrinsically safe design practices for hazardous environments
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, UL508A, NEMA, ISA, and IEC standards
  • Collaborate with customers and project teams to define requirements and meet timelines/budgets
  • Develop Bill of Materials (BOMs), manage procurement, and uphold quality standards
  • Promote AutoCAD Electrical best practices, templates, and libraries
  • Support field installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Align design work with business objectives
  • Lead continuous improvement and standardization initiatives

Requirements

  • AAS or BS in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7-10+ years in electrical/instrumentation design for industrial process control
  • Expertise in AutoCAD Electrical 2023+
  • Proficiency in electrical calculations (short circuit, voltage drop, sizing)
  • Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, NEMA, ISA, IEC, and hazardous area design (Class I Div 1/2)
  • Experience in chemical, glass, food, pharmaceutical, or similar process industries
  • Excellent communication and proven ability to deliver quality designs on time and budget
