About the role
P2S is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support our San Diego, CA location. This position offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $115,000, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform field surveys for the design of electrical systems, gather information, and prepare site assessment reports.
- Prepare electrical schematic designs and perform power single line and riser diagrams.
- Carry out electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKML.
- Select lighting fixtures and power equipment and prepare lighting circuiting designs.
- Design and coordinate the lighting control system and prepare fire alarm device layouts based on International Fire Code and NFPA 72.
- Create fire alarm riser diagrams, calculations, and sequence of operations.
- Prepare enlarged plans, elevations, schedules, and details, understanding and utilizing CAD/BIM standards.
- Understand and apply National Electrical Code and Energy Standards to design medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems.
- Coordinate with different disciplines such as mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural teams.
- Review and respond to RFI’s, review equipment submittals, perform punch walks, and prepare punch list reports during construction administration.
- Support electrical design projects with a focus on lighting systems, collaborate with project teams, assist with lighting circuiting and lighting controls design, and utilize AutoCAD and Revit MEP for design documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required).
- 2-5 years of experience in electrical design (required).
- Experience with lighting design preferred (preferred).
- Familiarity with Title 24 compliance is a plus (preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required).
- AGi software experience is a plus (preferred).
- EIT license is a plus (preferred).
- Association with IES/IEEE is a plus (preferred).
