Electrical Controls Technician
Why Infinium
Infinium is reimagining how the world powers, moves, and computes. We transform waste carbon into ultra-low carbon eFuels that decarbonize aviation, industry, and transport. Through Infinium Edge™, we deliver next-generation thermal infrastructure for data centers—unlocking extreme compute performance by removing heat as a constraint. Grounded in deep chemistry and energy systems expertise, Infinium turns carbon and heat from limits into opportunity.
The Role
As an Electrical & Controls Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our production facility. You will provide hands-on technical expertise in the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation, automation and control systems, and low voltage electrical distribution. This includes work on field instruments, PLC/DCS systems, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and associated control infrastructure. You will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to maintain regulatory compliance, minimize downtime, and continuously improve system reliability and operational performance.
What You’ll Do
- Instrumentation & Controls
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on field instruments, transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and electrical systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC/DCS systems (Emerson, Siemens, ABB preferred), MCCs, and VFDs
- Diagnose instrumentation loops, wiring faults, and electrical issues to reduce downtime
- Absorb responsibility for installation, calibration, commissioning, and system upgrades
- Support loop checks, function testing, and startup activities
- Maintain documentation for inspections, calibrations, and maintenance using CMMS
- Support environmental and safety monitoring systems including gas detection and ESD systems
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and recommend long-term reliability improvements
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics
- Low Voltage Electrical Systems
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on low voltage (120V–600V) electrical systems, including MCCs, breakers, panels, and distribution equipment
- Support lockout/tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures in accordance with NFPA 70E and company standards
- Install, terminate, and troubleshoot power and control wiring, conduit, and cable systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot motors, VFDs, and associated electrical drive systems
- Support commissioning and startup of low voltage power and control infrastructure
- DC Power & Backup Systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot industrial DC power systems, including rectifiers, converters, DC panels, and battery backup systems
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with EHS policies, electrical safety standards, Safe Work Permit, and Energy Control procedures
- Maintain strict adherence to NFPA 70E, NEC, ISA standards, OSHA PSM requirements, and company electrical safety programs
- Provide on-call support and collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Trades, and Planning teams
What We’re Looking For
- Technical diploma or associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or related field
- 3–6+ years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, data center infrastructure, or heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience with instrumentation, PLC/DCS systems, and low voltage electrical systems
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting MCCs, VFDs, and motor control systems
- Strong knowledge of 4–20 mA, HART, Modbus, and fieldbus communications
- Proficiency using multimeters, calibrators, loop testers, megohmmeters, and electrical test equipment
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, ISA standards, and OSHA PSM
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Willingness to accommodate overtime and call-out support as needed
Work Environment
Industrial plant environment with exposure to hazardous materials and compliance with hazardous area classifications (Class I, Div 1/2). This is a field-based, hands-on role requiring mobility, electrical safety discipline, and strict adherence to company and regulatory standards.
