About the role
The BIM Manager is part of the Corporate BIM team and is responsible for managing and producing building electrical BIM models and field/shop drawings, coordinating BIM content for building electrical systems, and coordinating the BIM coordination process.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the process of virtual construction and design documentation.
- Manage a team of modelers and coordinators by coaching, mentoring, and supervising.
- Ensure compliance with Corporate BIM Program and Processes.
- Coordinate with professional staff on reviewing models and comments.
- Develop electrical building models from basic sketches, 2D drawings and verbal instructions, utilizing Revit MEP/AutoCAD MEP tools.
- Resolve conflicts with other disciplines and trades using NavisWorks while adhering and improving primary electrical system design.
- Prepare 3D electrical system layouts for the Underground Coordination and Above the Ceiling Coordination.
- Prepare 3D seismic support model for all electrical systems.
- Produce MEP Coordination Drawings and Electrical Shop Drawings extracting data directly from the 3D electrical model.
- Attend and actively participate in coordination meetings with other MEP trades.
- Utilize CAD Scheduling and Takeoffs for pre-fabrication.
- Use the Revit family editor/AutoCAD Content Manager to build BIM content for electrical system components as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience with an architecture/engineering consulting firm or contractor.
- Mechanical PE preferred.
Qualifications
- Complete understanding of the electrical construction business.
- Proficient in REVIT Architecture/MEP 2010 and later, as well as AutoCAD 2D/3D.
- Work within project deadlines.
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Oracle preferred.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Interact effectively and professionally.
Skills
- Proficiency in Revit Architecture/MEP and AutoCAD 2D/3D.
- Experience with NavisWorks.
- Ability to prepare 3D electrical system layouts and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of MEP Coordination Drawings and Electrical Shop Drawings.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
