About the role

This on-site (5 days) Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager position in York, Pennsylvania serves as a strategic business partner, providing leadership in the development and implementation of comprehensive EHS management systems. The role focuses on implementing effective training initiatives, conducting risk analysis, and auditing programs to ensure compliance with Trane, local, state, provincial, and national requirements. You will establish and promote a strong safety culture, manage EHS activities and incident prevention, and support regional operations success.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire employee action affecting leading indicators, including employee involvement and management commitment.
  • Participate as an active member of the RES/TK EHS Leadership Team, supporting regional operations success.
  • Accountable to the Klinge Operations Leader with support to the RES/TK EHS Business Leader.
  • Provide support for other Company teams as needed, including North America and Enterprise EHS support.
  • Proactively lead and coordinate EHS process efforts for the York, PA manufacturing site and other locations such as CSTK Philadelphia/Bethlehem/Scranton, with potential temporary support for additional TK locations.
  • Develop, implement, and measure the success of safety programs, strategies, policies, training, and procedures aligned with Corporate and Business Unit expectations.
  • Ensure accountability and interactions between stakeholders and leadership.
  • Use established EHS data processes to manage incident and illness reporting, environmental metrics, risk assessments, and EHS action items.
  • Analyze data to drive continual improvement in safety efforts.
  • Regularly visit fixed facilities, job sites, and dispersed workforce locations to ensure effective implementation of EHS processes and programs, identifying risks and hazards and ensuring timely corrective measures.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation program administration, including transitional duty and return-to-work programs.
  • Drive incident and near-miss reporting, performing root cause analysis with operations experts and leadership to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Facilitate EHS training and orientation, identifying training requirements and ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure contractors and subcontractors implement effective safety processes, conducting pre-qualifications and regular site audits.
  • Participate in business teams to develop safety policies, projects, campaigns, and corporate compliance audits.
  • Provide EHS metrics and programs for customer-required contractor qualifications.
  • Coach and mentor employees, including leadership, on safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management.
  • Direct risk assessments and recommend control measures for potential areas of concern.
  • Prepare and submit required technical EHS regulatory reports.
  • Lead the review and approval process for safety data sheets and new chemical requests.
  • Act as a key member of site and regional leadership teams to drive EHS culture, ensuring inclusion in decision-making and facilitating Management of Change evaluations.
  • Organize and lead teams to identify and implement safety improvements, waste reductions, and resource conservation.
  • Oversee facility emergency response teams, ensuring training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness, and crisis management.
  • Guide, counsel, and communicate with all levels of leadership on EHS and wellness matters.
  • Provide critical oversight and training during integration processes, including EHSS Program and Policy implementation and training on EHS tools (e.g., Gensuite Benchmark, Velocity SDS & Ergo tools).
  • Support other RES/TK operations as needed.
  • Travel up to 50%, with approximately 30% overnight stays, to fixed manufacturing sites, sales/service office locations, and customer work sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental or Safety Sciences/Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • One or more safety-related professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHSM) desired.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of practical environmental health and safety management experience, preferably with a combination of manufacturing site and multi-location service-related business (10+ years desired).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and interpretation of federal, state, local, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Experience in fast-paced, changing, or growing organizations.
  • Excellent time management skills and proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) and EHS data management systems (e.g., Gensuite).
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, engage, and influence others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English; bilingualism is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to take innovative approaches to improve processes and solve problems.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with experience leading the safety management function.
  • Comfortable working with field technicians and communicating with leaders at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites remotely and a dispersed workforce.

Pay

Annual base salary range: $97,406.66 - $135,834.99. This is a salaried position with incentive eligibility. Compensation is tailored to factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
