Position Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and managing all environmental, health, safety, fleet compliance, and risk management initiatives across Earthtones Maintenance and Earthtones Design. This position partners closely with operational leadership to create a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Safety Leadership & Culture
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety programs
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout all maintenance and construction operations
- Lead safety initiatives that drive employee engagement and accountability
- Conduct regular branch and jobsite visits to evaluate safety performance
- Partner with leadership to establish annual safety goals and initiatives
- Facilitate company-wide safety meetings, training programs, and awareness campaigns
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulations
- Maintain company safety policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates
- Cook up and manage regulatory inspections and audits
- Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for all safety-related activities
Incident Investigation & Risk Management
- Lead investigations of workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, near misses, and property damage incidents
- Identify root causes and implement corrective action plans
- Analyze trends and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies
- Maintain incident reporting systems and performance metrics
- Collaborate with insurance carriers, brokers, and legal counsel as needed
Workers' Compensation & Claims Management
- Partner with Human Resources to manage workers' compensation claims
- Monitor claim activity and identify opportunities for cost reduction
- Coordinate return-to-work and modified duty programs
- Develop strategies to reduce injury frequency and severity
- Participate in claim reviews and insurance renewal processes
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to construction and landscape operations
- Oversee stormwater management, erosion control, and environmental protection programs
- Manage chemical storage, fuel handling, spill prevention, and waste management procedures
- Monitor pesticide, herbicide, fertilizer, and irrigation-related compliance requirements
- Conduct environmental audits and corrective action reviews
Fleet & Driver Safety
- Oversee fleet safety programs and driver qualification processes
- Monitor vehicle incidents, driver performance, and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company driving policies
- Partner with Fleet Management to improve driver safety performance
- Support vehicle inspection and maintenance compliance programs
Training & Development
- Develop and deliver safety and compliance training programs
- Facilitate new hire safety orientation and ongoing employee education
- Train managers and supervisors on safety leadership and accountability
- Maintain training records and certification tracking
- Support development of future safety leaders within the organization
Operational Partnership
- Partner with Maintenance and Construction leadership to improve operational safety performance
- Participate in operational planning meetings and leadership reviews
- Aid in project planning involving significant safety or environmental risks
- Support implementation of company SOPs and operational standards
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on safety and risk management matters
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive safety leadership experience.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Preferred:
- Commercial landscape, construction, utility, manufacturing, or field service industry experience.
- OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification.
- CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification.
- Experience with DOT compliance programs.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
