The EHS Manager is accountable for the development and implementation of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) programs and best practices to ensure compliance with governmental agencies and alignment with Construction Products Group EHS&S standards.

Responsibilities

• Develops and communicates standards of EHS&S code of conduct, ensures mutual understanding, and mitigates exposure to hazardous/undesirable conditions in business operations and product uses.
• Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive regulatory compliance programs in occupational health and safety, hazardous materials management, environmental management, transportation materials safety, security, and product compliance.
• Interprets regulations and develops legislatively compliant, organizationally appropriate standards for Tremco CPG.
• Conducts EHS&S audits, documents statistics regarding program compliance, and makes recommendations for annual safety program changes and objectives.
• Represents CPG with professional organizations, regulatory bodies, and governmental agencies.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for Tremco CPG EHS&S business unit operations and associated staff.
• May act as an expert witness in investigations and legal proceedings.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge and documentation of EHS&S rules, regulations, and legislation applicable to business operations and product mix.
• Researches best practices and investigates program innovations, particularly in chemicals manufacturing, distribution, and disposal, and recommends policy improvements.
• Prepares recommendations for pending or anticipated legislative changes and develops proactive, cost-effective program options.
• Travels to and works with Tremco CPG locations to serve as a resource regarding policies, standards, and best practices for EHS&S compliance, hazardous materials management, and product compliance.
• Develops and implements enterprise-wide EHS&S compliance programs and delivers tools and training to ensure organizational compliance.
• Identifies and corrects non-compliant processes through formal audits and recommends solutions to mitigate risks.
• Ensures all business units are aware of and comply with Tremco CPG and RPM EHS&S standards through training and resources.
• Assesses EHS&S human resources requirements and prepares plans to develop or recruit needed talent.
• Prepares, implements, and monitors the annual program budget, taking corrective action on variances.
• Provides analysis and recommendations on financial implications of product, program, and regulatory changes, including cost/benefit analysis.
• Establishes regulatory guidelines and performance standards for EHS&S risks and conducts ongoing audits and reporting.
• Assists business units with investigating serious EHS&S-related accidents, incidents, and breaches, and implements measures to mitigate future risks.
• Provides guidance to business unit leaders to ensure operational plans comply with organizational and jurisdictional EHS&S standards.
• Develops standards for training, audit, and reporting to meet ongoing and evolving requirements.
• Provides feedback to senior management on the feasibility and advisability of business strategies from a regulatory compliance and EHS&S best practices perspective.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university in Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Safety Sciences).
• 4–10 years’ experience leading and contributing to compliance and regulatory policy and program development in a materials processing environment.
• Formal training in occupational health and safety.
• Board of Certified Safety Professionals – Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certificate.
• Ability to travel across North America approximately 25% of the time.
• Broad understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, risk assessment, and mitigation programs in multiple (particularly North American) jurisdictions.
• Ability to inspire commitment to EHS&S program goals in a production environment with varying literacy and educational backgrounds.
• Ability to develop a business case for new program development or modification.
• Ability to manage program administration across multiple, disparate divisions (production, distribution, warehousing, sales, and marketing).
• ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications are highly preferred.
• Bilingual in either English/French or English/Spanish is highly preferred.

Work Location & Physical Demands

Will work onsite at one of our manufacturing locations.

• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay

The salary range for this position generally ranges between $93,000 to $120,000, based on potential employee qualifications, operations needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
